ATA473 Theory and Practice of Pastoral Counseling

This class is a ThD level overview of the theory and practice of pastoral counseling from a dynamic and post-Freudian psychoanalytic perspective, with other theoretical understandings as time permits. Historical development of theories, practical therapeutic approaches, and theological reflection are integrated in an examination of the “art” and “science” of pastoral psychotherapy. This is a year long course with 1.5 credits awarded for each semester.
