The Art of Worship

CTS students, faculty and staff may be interested in attending “The Art of Worship” from 4:00 pm–9:00 pm on January 8, 2009. This event is sponsored by the Committee for Spiritual Nurture and Worship Resourcing of the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta in partnership with the Center for Lifelong Learning. The event feature two workshop sessions (participants can select from several choices in each time period), dinner and community worship. Registration deadline is December 22, 2008— no exceptions!

Board of Pensions Benefit Meetings for Seniors

There will be a Board of Pensions Benefits Meeting on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 from 2:00-4:00 pm, in Harrington Center 222. Clark Simmons from the Board of Pensions will conduct a Fiscal Fitness Seminar for seniors (spouses also welcome). He will cover issues that deal with effectively structuring the first call, clarifying tax issues, budgets, debt management, and retirement/investment opportunities.

A second Board of Pensions Benefits Meeting will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2009 from 2:00-4:00 pm in Harrington Center 222, to discuss medical, pensions, death and disability benefits offered through the Board of Pensions.

Attendance at both of these classes will satisfy the requirement for the Seminary Debt Reduction Program of the BOP.

January Seminars 2009

“Celtic Christian Spirituality for Today” is the topic for January Seminars 2009. Featuring J. Philip Newell, a teacher, poet and scholar know for his work in the area of Celtic spirituality; John Bell, songwriter, musician, and member of the Iona Community; and Celtic artist Cynthia Matyi, the event will be held January 27-29, 2009. The event features plenary sessions, workshops and worship, and is held in the sanctuary of Columbia Presbyterian Church and in the Harrington Center.

There are still several “free/no fee” spaces for CTS students and spouses; faculty, staff and their spouses may also register for a reduced fee.
