Doctor of Educational Ministry

The Doctor of Educational Ministry (D.Ed.Min) is open to qualified applicants currently engaged in ministries of Christian education. Applicants should have a master's degree in religious education and at least three years in educational ministry. Usually completed in four years, Columbia's D.Ed.Min. was created to foster spiritual maturity as well as imaginative thinking about educational ministry as it is practiced within the life of congregations, as well as in other contexts.

This is a part-time program for those actively employed in an official position of educational ministry. The 36-hour semester academic program includes two-week residential courses on the Columbia campus, with a practicum and final research project done in the student's place of ministry.

Since 2006, the seminary has started a cohort every other year. Applications for the next cohort will be received from September, 2011, to April, 2012, with the applications reviewed as a group shortly after the April deadline. Students accepted into the cohort will begin their studies with the D. Ed.Min. Introductory Seminar in October, 2012.
