Flu Information and Preparedness Guide for Columbia Theological Seminary
- Distribute initial campus email for general flu information. Also set up link on CTS website for community to refer to for information/updates.
- DeKalb Board of Health will be on campus to provide flu shots for $25 each. Please see the current THIS WEEK for specific dates and times..
- Establish regular schedules for frequent cleaning of surfaces and items that are more likely to have frequent hand contact such as desks, door knobs/handles, keyboards, or counters, with cleaning agents that are usually used in these areas. Promote frequent cleaning of bathrooms and ensure adequate supplies of soap and paper towels.
- Provide disposable wipes in classrooms, kitchens, and offices so that commonly used surfaces such as chairs, remote controls, and keyboards shared by students/staff can be wiped down prior to each use.
- Provide hand sanitizing stations in the lobby areas of Campbell Hall, JBC Library, Richards Center, Harrington Center (2 locations), and outside chapels and the workout area in the New Residence Hall. Also provide bottles of hand sanitizers in common workplace areas, such as Business Office counter and Library Circulation desk.
- Display posters about hand washing and cough etiquette. (Posters available from CDC will be placed in high traffic areas such as Refectory, JBC Library, Campbell Hall, Harrington Center, and Richards Center offices, public restrooms, and residence halls.)
- Encourage students to frequently clean their living quarters. Students living together, whether on or off campus, should frequently clean commonly-used surfaces such as doorknobs, refrigerator handles, remote controls, and countertops.
- As always, encourage the community to practice healthy living.
During the time that H1N1 flu is a public health issue for our area we will monitor the information published by the CDC to assist us in determining our next steps. We will provide information and updates relevant to the seminary community on this website.
