Columbia Theological Seminary Announces Distinguished Service Award
Decatur, GA.-At its annual Alumni/ae Association meeting on April 13, Columbia Theological Seminary presented the Distinguished Service Award for 2004 to Marilyn Roberts Washburn. Washburn was selected as one of two graduates who are recognized each year for outstanding Christian service in ministry.
Marilyn Washburn, who graduated from Columbia in 1981, is a physician who uses her medical skills in a unique ministry of healing to body, mind, and spirit. In Atlanta, she serves as volunteer parish associate at Druid Hills Presbyterian Church and provides medical care for patients at DeKalb Grady Clinic in Atlanta. She also travels extensively to share her expertise in classrooms and conferences around the country.
Washburn has been a strong influence in health ministries policy of the Presbyterian Church (USA), and the denomination has recognized her contribution by presenting her the Woman of Faith award for leadership and service.
