“Jesus on the Big Screen” Film Festival, March 1-3, 2007

12/19/2006

Decatur, GA.—On March 1-3, Columbia Theological Seminary’s Center for Lifelong Learning will host “Jesus on the Big Screen”, a film festival that will look at how movies have depicted Jesus and the Gospel. Fritz Bogar, a pastor, biblical scholar and experienced film buff, will lecture, lead discussions, and show film clips. Participants will view and explore excerpts from “reverential spectacles” (e.g. King of Kings, Passion of the Christ), musicals (e.g. Jesus Christ Superstar, Godspell), and alternative visions (e.g. Last Temptation of Christ, Jesus of Montreal). In considering these and other films, Bogar will focus on two questions in particular: “Who is this Jesus” and “What implications for a life of faith do we see and hear?”

The festival will be held on the seminary campus on Thursday and Friday evenings and all day Saturday, March 3. Program fee is $90 and includes refreshments and one lunch. To register online, go to http://www.ctsnet.edu/lifelong/calendar/index.asp and click on the date of the event. Or call the registrar at 404-687-4587.
