Brian Wren Named Professor Emeritus
Decatur, GA. – Brian A. Wren, the John and Miriam Conant Professor of Worship at Columbia Theological Seminary, has been named professor emeritus, effective with his retirement at the end of May. An internationally acclaimed hymn writer, he joined the seminary faculty in 2000.
Wren is a graduate of Oxford University: New College for his honors degree in modern languages, then Mansfield College for his theology degree, ordination course, and a doctorate in Old Testament. He is ordained in the United Reformed Church (UK), and began writing hymns when he was a minister in England. His hymns are published in North America by Hope Publishing Company.
Wren is married to the Rev. Dr. Susan Heafield, minister of the United Methodist Church Cooperative Parish on Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts. He will join her in Massachusetts at the end of May.
