Colloquium: “The Church Facing the Future: Memory, Hope, and Obedience.”

Monday, April 20, 2015  l  12:00pm – 1:00pm

Location: Harrington Center Chapel

Visiting pastor, Dr. John Kipp will proclaim the gospel from John 14:26-29: Where God Sleeps During the Week. Dr. Kipp first graduated from MIT and served as a Radar Maintenance Officer in the US Air Force in Red Bluff, CA. He later graduated from Princeton Theological Seminary (BD, PhD). He has served in several churches in the Midwest and the South, and also was Presbytery Executive for the Western Kentucky Presbytery. Dr. Kipp is currently parish associate at First Presbyterian Church of Athens, GA. He is married to Sara Webb Kipp. They have three children, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Dr. Kipp’s preaching is described as “a wonderful combination of head and heart!”

Location: Harrington Center Chapel

Dr. Kimberly Clayton, director for Contextual Education, will bring the Colloquium theme of “The Church Facing the Future: Memory, Hope, and Obedience” into the worship setting. We will have an opportunity to reflect on our community here at Columbia Theological Seminary with both confession and thanksgiving. Voices from past professors and Presidents will enliven our memories and point us toward the future with hope. On Monday, Colloquium participants will have an opportunity to contribute a memory or a hope that will be woven into the service.
