CTS Community Engagement Fellows

Promoting Social Justice through Service and Advocacy

We are seminary students seeking to live out a prophetic witness to the Gospel through service and advocacy. Together, we hope to:

  • establish a student-led initiative to engage Columbia Theological Seminary Students in the Atlanta area, 
  • establish leadership roles that create an efficient infrastructure to facilitate engagement, 
  • define seminary student engagement through service, advocacy, consistency, and faithfulness.

Job Description

Each Community Engagement Fellow is responsible for establishing and managing the relationship between the agency/issue and the seminary community. 

  • Each team member will commit eight hours a week during the school year to their assigned agency
  • Students will be paid through a Community Engagement Fellow stipend
  • Fellows will meet weekly for an hour to check-in and plan (meetings during lunch on Wednesdays from 12:30-1:30)
  • Team will meet with a Faculty Adviser once a month for two hours

The Fellow will plan, carry out and follow through on:

  • Short-term volunteer opportunities (one or two events per semester)
  • Regular weekly on-going service engagement (3-5 hours per week)
  • Intense engagement (part time job, work study, internship (8-10 hours per week)
  • Public education and awareness (coordinating forums on campus, circulating information
  • Academic integration (work with faculty to integrate engagement into classroom)
  • Working with other fellows to coordinate events and establish a unified front for community engagement.
