P735 Shared Wisdom: Use of the Self in Pastoral Care and Counseling
This course will examine the use of the pastoral caregiver’s self as an instrument for pastoral assessment, theological reflection, and clinical intervention. The concepts of “intersubjectivity” and “relationality” in pastoral care, including new definitions of “countertransference,” will be explored through reading, lecture/discussion, and extensive work with case studies presented by students each week. This course is designed primarily for D.Min. students, and is also available to ThD students. Current involvement in professional ministry is required.
