A study of the biblical figure of Eve that pays particular attention to her “maternal aspect” and what that entails. Examines interpretations of Eve throughout history, particularly those that emphasize her role in original sin or as significant for debates on gender equality, while ignoring her complex role as “mother of all the living” (Gen 3:20). Considers how these interpretations of Eve and maternity relate to the lived experience of women.
