Fall Evening Lay School, Session One

Fall Evening Lay School, Session One

Reading Revelation in the 21st Century, led by Professor Beth Johnson. Is Revelation a book of violence and vengeance? Of comfort and encouragement? Is it about the past or the future? Reading Revelation these days can be a confusing undertaking as religious sensibilities and popular culture notions collide. This class will offer a literary, historical, and theological exploration of the Book of Revelation. Mondays, 7:30-9:30 p.m.: Sept. 12, 19, 26, and October 3, 2005

Stories of Conflict, led by David Forney. The Bible is filled with stories of people in conflict–within themselves, with others, and even with God. In these stories, we find how God can often use these conflicts to transform people and possibilities. In this course, we will explore these stories of “biblical proportion,” and also explore how God continues to work new life out of the conflicts we experience in our own lives. Mondays, 7:30-9:30 p.m.: Sept. 12, 19, 26 and Oct. 3, 2005

Cost for each course: $60 if paid in advance; $65 if paid at the door.
