Assistant Professor, American Religious and Cultural History-Tenure Track

Columbia Theological Seminary, a graduate educational institution of the Presbyterian Church (USA), invites applications or nominations for a tenure-track, faculty position in American Religious and Cultural History. The successful candidate will teach required and elective courses in all degree level programs and non-degree programs, including the Center for Lifelong Learning. The successful candidate will be a historian whose primary field is American Religious and Cultural History from the pre-colonial period to the present. Special interest in church history focusing on the American South is highly desirable. Demonstrated knowledge of Presbyterian and Reformed history is essential as is demonstrated understanding of the histories, experiences, and cultures from the Americas and other regions of the global church, and American religious communities other than Christian. Commitment to the formation of students for service in the mission of the church with special attention to diversities of age, culture, ethnicity, gender, ecclesial traditions, theological and pastoral identities is highly desirable. The successful candidate should have completed the PhD (or equivalent) at the time of employment, July 1, 2014.
