| “And
what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love
kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” (Micah 6:8, NRSV)
Each fall at Columbia, students in the Old Testament Survey class
ponder these words from the prophet Micah. These students have come
from a diversity of backgrounds, compelled to explore the ways God
calls them to respond to a world that needs the life-giving Word.
At Columbia they find a community of Christ’s disciples seeking
ways to be faithful to the saving love we find in Jesus Christ. Here,
we engage one another theologically, prophetically, and pastorally,
shaping leaders to proclaim the good news of Gods love in the
church and in the world.
As a community of theological education, our contributions are
rich and varied. Our faculty pursues a diversity of research interests
while engaging and encouraging our students. Through teaching, preaching,
research, and service beyond the seminary, they strengthen the vital
connection of the educational institution and the larger church.
Our staff, endowed with a wide range of talents and skills, administers
our academic, continuing education, and lay programs. Our students
flourish in the creative atmosphere of our curriculum and the warmth
of our community.
As you visit this site, we hope you will discover something exciting
about the real people of Columbia. We invite you to our campus,
to this community of theological inquiry and formation for ministry
in the service of the church. We invite you into this place, to
join us as we continue to discern the ways in which we are called
to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with our God.
