New Books from Certificate in Spiritual Formation Graduates and Participants

Certificate in Spiritual Formation Graduate, Laura Dunham, class of ’99, recently published Path of the Purified Heart: The Spiritual Journey as Transformation. A Presbyterian minister, Benedictine oblate, and ecumenist, Laura illumines the common path all Christians and spiritual seekers may take toward union with God.  Drawing upon the spiritual wisdom of the past and present, she invites readers to join her on this journey. Laura says, “The story of my own ‘year of purification’ along the path of the purified heart is woven throughout the book, as are the motifs of the liturgical year and the labyrinth as a symbol of the journey.”

Certificate in Spiritual Formation Graduate, George Grove, class of ’99, recently published The Rich Young Ruler: A Biblical Novella and Other Short Stories. Grove captures the sense of time and place of the Scriptures and draws you into the unfolding drama. Through Grove’s imaginative storytelling that is faithful to Scripture, you find yourself becoming engaged in the lives of Biblical characters, aware of their hopes and fears, and become part of a story that is larger than your own story.

Julie Hliboki, current Spiritual Formation participant, completes The Breath of God: Thirty-Three Invitations to Embody Holy Wisdom. “Julie Hliboki opens the door to an authentic interfaith pathway and provides guidance on the contemplative journey,” says Dr. Ben Campbell Johnson. Through artwork, poetry, and stories of her personal journey, Julie Hliboki invites readers of all faiths to engage directly with the beautiful divine Names of God, a process that will enlighten the seeker.
