Applications Now Being Accepted for Guthrie Scholars, September 24-28, 2012
The Guthrie Scholars program is accepting applications for this fall’s week-long event, September 24-28. Prospective participants should propose a program of study that engages pressing issues of the church from a Reformed perspective.
The program includes daily worship with the seminary community and time for study and spiritual reflection. The hope is that plans and resources will evolve from this program that will enhance each participant’s setting for ministry. Participants will design research programs for themselves, meet with the other Guthrie Scholars to discuss their projects and what they are learning, and create a collegial context in which to think about their areas of concern. Applications should be received no later than the end of August. Applications will be reviewed as received, and enrollment will be closed when available spaces are filled.
The selection committee will choose at most six people, based on the focus of each project and the relevancy of the projects to each applicant’s life and ministry. The committee’s goal is to bring together a cohesive, diverse group of people who can learn from one another. Preference will be given to new participants or those who participated more than 7-10 years ago. Room and on-campus meals are provided; the only cost to participants is for travel and incidental expenses.
