Announcing Spring Lifelong Learning Classes
“We are pleased to announce our Spring 2013 class offerings,” says interim associate director, Deedra Rich. “We are bringing in some new instructors with engaging topics like The Spirituality of “Stuff” in the Gospel of Luke with Eric Barreto and celebrating the abundance of worship resources, including the release of the new Glory to God Presbyterian Hymnal in our January Seminars session, Resurrection: New Life, New Song.
We are also returning to some of the favorite classics,” Rich continues, “such as Henri Nouwen with Chris Glaser, Western Christian Spirituality with Catherine Gonzalez, and the Women’s Contemplative Retreat at the Sacred Heart Monastery in Cullman, Alabama.”
Carl McColman, who captivated our attention last year in the Wisdom of Christian Mystics class and continued to impress us with his standing room only session on the contemplative nature of Christianity at the Interfaith Contemplative Conference last spring, will be leading Holy Wells and Thin Places: Exploring Celtic Spirituality and co-teaching the Immersion Experience: An Invitation to a Deeper Spiritual Life. Both classes will be held at Montreat Conference Center in April 2013.
Lifelong Learning also continues to emphasize the importance of Christian education and spiritual formation for youth and children with Baptism and Beyond: Scaffolding a Life of Discipleship. This class will be led by Anne Apple and Kathy Dawson in April 2013.
