by Lifelong Learning Staff

2012 S3 Cohort Gathers for Prayer

The Grants Advisory Committee for the S3 (Sabbath, Study, and Service) Project met in October to review applications from nine self-selected peer learning groups. The committee – Deb Mullen, dean of faculty and executive vice-president; Doug Taylor, vice president of institutional advancement; Kevin Park, associate dean of advanced professional studies; Kim Clayton, director of contextual education; Jannan Thomas, CTS alum, PC(USA) clergywoman currently serving as director of transitional ministries for Action Ministries, and former peer group participant; and Sarah Erickson, S3 Project coordinator –read through the nine application packets, including 44 individual applications. They are pleased to announce that six groups comprised of 27 individuals were selected. Remarking on the process, Erickson commented, “This was a stellar pool of proposals and a very competitive process. The diversity – faith traditions and geographic locations – should make for a lively orientation retreat in February.”
The new 2013 cohort will gather for their initial orientation Feb. 18-21, 2013, joining the six outgoing groups (29 participants) in the 2012 cohort, who will gather to reflect upon and evaluate their peer learning experiences.
