Christen Erskine, Godly Play trainer, presenting a story

Wondering how to help “connect the dots” for children in church school classes as they move from toddler to teen? These upcoming courses are designed to help answer these and related questions.

Certified Godly Play® leaders should mark their calendars for “Deeper into the Core of Godly Play®: Moving through the Godly Play Spiral with Children of All Ages” to be held on campus March 15-16, 2013. Christen Erskine and Sharon Greeley, experienced Godly Play® trainers, will lead this event. Program Fees will be $140 per person early bird (thru Feb. 15) with a discount fee of $130 per person, 2+ persons from same group, or $160 per person regular registration (thru March 8) with a discount fee of $150 per person, 2+ persons from same group. Registration information will be available online by December 1, 2012.

In April, Kathy Dawson and Anne Apple will lead “Baptism and Beyond: Scaffolding a Life of Discipleship” on April 11-13. Dawson, associate professor of Christian Education and director of the MAPT program, and Apple, interim associate pastor at Idlewild Presbyterian in Memphis, TN, will explore how to nurture all ages to live out their baptismal vows in their daily lives in ways that are counter-cultural to a life of consumption and self-fulfillment. A full course description and registration information may be found here.

“Parents: Christian Educators on the Frontlines” has been rescheduled for September 13-14, 2013. Anna Brown, director of Christian Education at Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church and adjunct professor of Christian Education at McAfee School of Theology, will help parents, pastors, educators, and youth leaders examine how to make the most of the time we have with children and youth in church settings. The group will explore biblical, theological, developmental, and cultural foundations of this conversation, and engage in practical ways to equip parents to embrace their task as primary Christian educators of their children. Program fee is $165, with discounts for 2+ persons from the same group. Online registration will be available in early spring 2013 or sooner.
