We are pleased to open registration for our two popular Horizons/Presbyterian Women’s Bible Study courses for the summer of 2013. These two courses are specifically designed for leaders of the 2013-2014 Horizons Bible Study. We will dig deeply into the material, provide an overview of the design, and receive tips for leading the study throughout the coming year. Those interested in learning more about the books of Exodus and Deuteronomy are also welcome to attend.

These two books invite us to remember that the central actor in human experience is God, and that we have the assurance of God’s abiding presence as individuals and as communities of faith. The instructions given in Exodus and Deuteronomy for life as a covenant community were extended to people who were on the move, people who knew what it meant to be strangers in a foreign land. These teachings both invite and challenge us to consider our relationship with and responsibility to migrants near and far. An Abiding Hope seeks to help us understand and respond to situations of migration in our midst. Through this study we are encouraged to embrace the assurance of God’s presence. It is God our Redeemer who, by grace, gives us the power to help ourselves and others live into the fullness God intends for us and to move forward as people who have been set free.

Author Janice Catron will lead the WEEKDAY course August 5-7. She is pastor of John Knox Presbyterian Church in Louisville, KY, and wrote the Horizons Bible study Job: Faith Remains When Understanding Fails, published in 1997. The creation of a group art project will be part of the course. To register, click HERE.

Linda Morningstar, former associate director of lifelong learning and popular Horizons study leader returns for the WEEKEND event on August 16-17. Morningstar frequently leads retreats and bible studies. Click HERE to register.

Early bird discounts apply for both courses until May 31. After May 31, the full program fee will be charged, with discounts for 2+ persons registering from the same group.
