Discovering God's Prophecy: Scripture, Wonder, & Response
“Sacred stories stimulate our sense of Christian unity,” says Jerome Berryman,
creator of Godly Play®. Stories are compelling, inviting, and meant to be shared. I wonder which story is your favorite. Is it the one that you can recite as you hear it?
In August, Godly Play Foundation Trainer, Christen Erskine, will lead Discovering God’s Prophecy: Scripture, Wonder & Response, a Lifelong Learning course in the Certificate in Spiritual Formation. In this unique experience of Godly Play® for adults, participants will learn more about the purpose, theology, and practice of Godly Play® while discovering more about the prophets and how they may inform one’s own faith journey.
The practice of Godly Play® invites each one present to make discoveries about a whole web of relationships--with self, others, nature, and God – to nourish us in all our life.1 Everyone is invited, those experienced with Godly Play® and those who are just curious, those who are enrolled in the certificate program and those who would just like to participate in this class.
Do you live in the Atlanta area and want a sneak peak of a Godly Play for Adults session? Christen invites you to hear the story of the Greatest Parable at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church, 1790 LaVista Road, NE, Atlanta, GA 30329, on Thursday, May 9 at 7:00pm. RSVP to Christen Erskine, firstname.lastname@example.org.
Whether in May or in August, come see, hear, and enter into the story through the practice of Godly Play®. You are invited to experience story in the oral tradition, wonder as a group, and accept the invitation to respond to God’s Word and create something new from the wisdom of the circle.
