Compass Points Program Celebrates First Group of Graduates
The first five graduates of the PCCCA/Compass Points Certificate Program in Camp and Conference Ministry were recognized during the 2013 PCCCA/Lutheran Outdoor Ministry Annual Conference held at the Zephyr Point Presbyterian Conference Center on the shores of Lake Tahoe.
Joel Winchip, executive director of PCCCA, awarded each graduate a compass bearing the “Compass Points” design to mark the occasion. The first graduates are Bri Payne, Executive Director, John Knox Center, Ten Mile, TN; Marliana Spence, Henrico, VA; Dan Kingery, Executive Director, Camp Carew, Makanda, IL; Kevin Cartee, Executive Director, Fellowship Camp and Conference Center, Waterloo, SC; and Becky Little, Program Director, Crestfield Camp and Conference Center, Slippery Rock, PA.
The Compass Points Program was developed by the Presbyterian Church Camp and Conference Association in partnership with the Center for Lifelong Learning. It offers a curriculum designed for those looking to deepen their understanding of camp and conference ministry.
Program participants include those who are considering a call to camp and conference ministry, are new to the field, or who are currently working in the field and seeking to widen their knowledge base. The next two courses, Biblical and Theological Foundation and Program Design and Implementation are offered at the seminary in March; for complete course descriptions, please visit here.
