Horizons Bible Study New for 2014
We are pleased to open registration for our two popular Horizons Bible Study courses for the summer of 2014. "Reconciling Paul: A Contemporary Study of 2 Corinthians" is specifically designed for leaders of the 2014-2015 Horizons Bible Study. We will dig deeply into the material, offer an overview of the course design, and provide tips for leading the study throughout the coming year. Anyone who wishes to explore 2 Corinthians is welcome to register for these studies.
“These two summer events bring more than 70 women – and several men – to campus every year,” said Sarah Erickson, director of lifelong learning and coordinator of the events. “They renew old friendships and make new ones, while preparing to lead bible studies and circles in their congregations.”
The 2014-15 Horizons Bible Study invites us to read Paul’s second letter to the Corinthians afresh in light of the current issues and events. Revisiting the struggles Paul faced and the authenticity and integrity of his theology is an essential task for the churches today. Like Paul, we wrestle with and question our faith as we try to live as authentically as possible in the midst of a great deal of change. The concepts of shared partnership, power in weakness, healing, reconciliation, love, and a new apostolate all figure prominently in the author’s reading of Paul. Author of the study, Elizabeth Hinson-Hasty, hopes it will encourage us to find our own voices among the larger community of interpreters, exploring the meaning of these ancient passages for the world in which we live today.
Hinson-Hasty, chair of the Department of Theology at Bellarmine University and associate professor of theology, will lead the weekday course August 4-6. To read more about her, and to register, click HERE.
Sharol Hayner, parish associate at Kairos Church in Atlanta, GA, and popular Horizons study leader, returns to teach the weekend program on August 15-16. Hayner is a popular worship and retreat leader. Read more about her and register for the weekend event HERE.
Early bird discounts apply for both courses until May 31. After May 31, the full program fee will be charged, with discounts for 2+ persons registering from the same group.
