Rev. Dr. James A. Forbes

Renowned preacher Rev. Dr. James A. Forbes, senior minister emeritus of the Riverside Church in New York Cityand President and Founder of the Healing of the Nations Foundation, will lecture and preach during the event, “Preaching: Dialogue on Peace, Justice and Reconciliation,” hosted by Columbia Seminary’s Center for Preaching and Center for Lifelong Learning, January 25-27, 2011.
“Dr. Forbes’ interests in holistic health and wellness and his extensive history as a preeminent African-American pastor, preacher, educator, community activist, and interfaith leader will enrich his contributions to the overall theme of this January Seminars conference,” says Rev. “It is an honor to have someone of Dr. Forbes’ stature to draw this conference to what will no doubt be a rousing conclusion.”
Leading opening worship on January 25 will be Anna Carter-Florence, CTS Peter Marshall associate professor of preaching. Frequently in demand as a preacher and teacher, Carter-Florence recently conducted a series of lectures in Sweden and is writing her next book.
Among other leaders for the event is Matthew Flemming, CTS instructor in preaching. Watch the Lifelong Learning events calendar on the CTS Web site early this fall, for the final schedule of leaders and topics, including registration information.
