Journey of Faith offers renewal for mid-career pastors
Journey of Faith: A Pilgrimage of Discernment for Ministry includes a two-week pilgrimage to the Holy Land, orientation immediately before the pilgrimage and post-pilgrimage reflection. The pilgrimage orientation and travel to the Holy Land is from April 19-May 5, 2010.
Journey of Faith is open to pastors of any denomination who have five or more years in ordained ministry and who are currently in active service to a congregation.
"We are excited to offer this extraordinary program, made possible through a generous gift to the seminary," says Tom Lewis, Director of the Spirituality Program in the CTS Center for LIfelong Learning. "It enables pastors to journey from the demands and challenges of everyday ministry, to visit the birthplace of our faith, and to reflect on their ministry. lgrims will participate in follow-up reflection, using electronic means to post and share their insights.
"Participants have an opportunity to deepen their spiritual journey, clarify their call to ministry, and gain valuable insights through this journey to the roots of our faith.”
Orientation will be held on the Columbia Theological Seminary campus in Decatur, Georgia. Departure for the Holy Land will be from Atlanta.
Participant costs for travel, accommodations, meals, and materials for the pilgrimage will be underwritten by the Cobb Foundation Grant. The only cost for those selected to participate will be a registration fee of $500 and miscellaneous personal expenses.
The application deadline for the pilgrimage is November 19, 2009. Applicants will be notified of acceptance by December 18, 2009.
