Do I need an account to search the CALVIN catalog?

No.


Can I renew my books online?

Yes.  You will need your User ID number and PIN (both generated by the library).  Contact the library for your log in information.  Circ-desk@ctsnet.edu or 404.687.4610.


There is a book/article I want that you don't have.  How do I get it?

Click the Interlibrary Loan link under "I need material".  This takes you to OCLC Worldcat, which allows you to find and borrow material from libraries world-wide. ILL is available only for current students, faculty, and staff.


Can I place a "hold" on something that's checked out?

Yes.  However, only items that are currently checked out can be held.  To place a hold locate the item you wish to hold in CALVIN, select the “place hold” button, and enter your login information and enter the date you wish the hold to expire.


How do I search?

Enter your search terms in the boxes next to an appropriate field.  "Words or phrase" allows for keyword searching, while "title", "subject" will search those fields only. Entering too many terms may result in a search that returns few results. Entering too few terms may result in too many results. Clicking "Help" in the green bar will provide context sensitive help  Ask a librarian for help if in doubt.


How do I get my login information?

Your User ID is your library card number.  For current students, faculty, and staff this is the number on  your CTS identification card.  Your PIN is a number that is unique to CALVIN.  If you do not know your PIN call us at 404.687.4610 or email circ-desk@ctsnet.edu.


How do I Locate an eBook in CALVIN

  1. Search by title words or key words  
  2. On the Advanced Search page limit the search to “type: eBook” 
  3. Click the URL button which will take you to the eBook in EBSCO

What are the options for reading an eBook?

  1. Read online  
  2. Check out and download to your computer  
  3. Check out and download to your portable device 

How do I Read an eBook Online?

Select eBook Full Text icon.   This option does not check the book out to you.  When you close your internet browser it will also close.  To check the eBook out, you must download it.


How do I Check Out and Download eBooks on EBSCOhost to my computer through the Web-Based Interface?

  1. Download an eBook title from EBSCOhost by clicking on the “Download” link on the search result page or from within the detailed record 
  2. Create an account in EBSCO or log in to EBSCO.  This is a separate log in from CALVIN.  
  3. Select your preferred checkout period and click “Checkout & Download” 
  4. eBook is downloaded and viewable via Adobe® Digital Editions* on your computer 
*This free software can be installed from the Adobe® website, if not already on your computer or device.

How do I Check Out and Download eBooks on EBSCOhost to Portable Devices?

  1. Download an eBook title from EBSCOhost by clicking on the “Download” link on the search result page or from within the detailed record 
  2. Create an account in EBSCO or log in to EBSCO.  This is a separate log in from CALVIN. 
  3. Select your preferred checkout period and click “Checkout & Download”
  4. Drag and drop the title icon to your portable device 5. Read your eBook on your portable device* 
*In order for a portable device to be used with eBooks on EBSCOhost, it must be compatible with Adobe® Digital Editions.
