Certificate Programs
The Center for Lifelong Learning offers three leadership programs
that lead to certification. Most certification courses are offered
on the seminary campus, in Decatur, GA, with scheduling convenient
for working participants. There are no academic prerequisites for
admission to the programs, and there is no time limit on completion
of the coursework. Most courses are open to participants who do
not wish to complete a certification program.
Christian Spiritual Formation
For both laypersons and ministers, this program is designed to develop
skills in offering spiritual leadership to others. The curriculum
includes an introductory “immersion” experience, six
elective courses, a practicum, and a pilgrimage. Coursework is typically
completed in three to five years, and as many as three elective
courses may be completed at our partner institutions, the Presbyterian
seminaries in Austin, TX, and Pittsburgh, PA.
Youth Ministry Leadership
Offered by Columbia in partnership with the Presbytery of Greater
Atlanta, this certification program is designed for youth leaders
and pastors who are committed to developing strong church youth
programs. The curriculum includes two weekend retreats and six weekend
courses.
Lay Leadership Training Program for Immigrants
Offered in partnership with the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta, this certification program for lay leaders of immigrant fellowships and congregations is designed to provide instruction in the beliefs and polity of the Presbyterian Church (USA). The program is offered in three languages—English, Spanish, and Portuguese—and consists of ten, 10-hour courses (including a practicum). |
