The Montreat Collection

Along with church and presbytery records and histories, personal papers, and other treasures, Columbia has received more than 20,000 books and bound periodicals from the Montreat branch of the Presbyterian Historical Society.. These new holdings, which include an extensive collection of rare volumes, establish Columbia as a major holder of Presbyterian and Reformed material and as a destination for the study of history and theology.

The Montreat Collection occupies most of the third floor of the seminary’s John Bulow Campbell Library. Conversion of library space required the addition of movable shelving and reorganization of existing archives and library. Rare books and other special items from Montreat are protected in areas with temperature and humidity controls.

For information about the Montreat Collection, contact Linda Davis, seminary archivist, at davisl@ctsnet.edu, or 404.687.4615
