Area Pastor Receives Leadership Award at Columbia Seminary Commencement
Decatur, GA.—Alice Schaap Freeman, recently called to serve as associate pastor of Selwyn Avenue Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, received the Master of Divinity degree and was presented the Columbia Leadership Award on May 14 during commencement exercises of Columbia Theological Seminary. The Columbia Leadership Award is presented to a Master of Divinity graduate who shows promise of providing outstanding leadership to the church and who demonstrates unusual leadership qualities as well as spiritual depth and integrity. Freeman is from Marion, VA, and holds the B.A. from Davidson College in Davidson, NC. Freeman is one of 92 students who received diplomas from one of Columbia’s five degree programs during commencement exercises. Columbia Theological Seminary, established in 1828, is one of 10 theological institutions of the Presbyterian Church (USA).
