Madison Presbyterian Church Member Receives Prize in Church History at Columbia Seminary Commencement


Decatur, GA.— Shelton Rebecca Latham received the Master of Divinity degree and was presented the Paul T. Fuhrmann Book Prize in Church History Award on May 14 during commencement exercises of Columbia Theological Seminary. The Fuhrmann Prize is given annually to the student showing the most outstanding achievement in church history. The recipient is nominated by a judging committee of professors and elected by the faculty. Latham, who is originally from Madison, GA, received the B.A. from Converse College in Spartanburg, SC. She is a candidate for ministry in Northeast Georgia Presbytery and is seeking a call to parish ministry. Latham is one of 92 students who received diplomas from one of Columbia’s five degree programs during commencement exercises. Columbia Theological Seminary, established in 1828, is one of 10 theological institutions of the Presbyterian Church (USA).
