PhD Student Receives Fellowship at Columbia Seminary Commencement
Decatur, GA.—Charles Davis Hankins, who will begin his Ph.D. studies this fall in the Hebrew Bible program at Emory University, received the Master of Divinity degree and was presented the Harvard A. Anderson Fellowship on May 14 during commencement exercises of Columbia Theological Seminary. The Anderson Fellowship was established by the Rev. and Mrs. Harvard A. Anderson of Orlando, Florida. The fellowship is awarded to the graduating student determined by the faculty to have the greatest potential for future academic achievement. Hankins is from Charlotte, NC, and holds the B.S. from North Carolina State University in Raleigh. Hankins is one of 92 students who received diplomas from one of Columbia’s five degree programs during commencement exercises. Columbia Theological Seminary, established in 1828, is one of 10 theological institutions of the Presbyterian Church (USA).
