Care of Creation is Focus of 2007 Colloquium, April 16-18


Decatur, GA.—“The Word for a Warming World: The Bible, the Church and the Groanings of Creation” is the topic for Columbia Theological Seminary’s Colloquium 2007, April 16-18 on the seminary’s campus in Decatur, GA. The event features presentations by Barbara Rossing of the Lutheran School of Theology and Terence Fretheim of Luther Seminary. Columbia Seminary adjunct professor Barbara Brown Taylor will preach during the event’s opening worship service. Colloquium 2007 will focus on the church’s encounter with global ecological crisis. Through plenary presentations, panels and workshops, the conference will explore the broad contours of the crisis, develop biblical perspectives for Christian care of creation, and offer resources for ministry in times of travail. Colloquium also serves as Columbia’s alumni/ae homecoming with reunions during the 2007 event for the classes of 1956 and before, 1957, 1962, 1967, 1972, 1977, 1982, 1987, 1992, 1997, 2002, and 2006. Additional information, including registration and CTS class reunion information, will be available in January 2007. Columbia Theological Seminary, located in Decatur, Georgia, was established in 1828 and is one of 10 theological institutions of the Presbyterian Church (USA).
