New Books by Charles Cousar and Walter Brueggemann
Decatur, GA.—Publishers have recently released new books by Walter Brueggemann and Charles Cousar, professors emeriti at Columbia Theological Seminary. Brueggemann, an Old Testament scholar, is the author of Like Fire in the Bones: Listening for the Prophetic Word in Jeremiah. Released by Fortress Press, this is the fourth book in a series on the Old Testament prophetic tradition. The book explores the prophet’s message amidst a background of major social, political and economic upheavals in order to convey the powerful and often abrasive impact of these texts on our own times and circumstances. Cousar, who is a New Testament scholar, has written An Introduction to the New Testament: Witnesses to God’s New Worship, published by Westminster John Knox Press. Cousar is well known for his lectionary commentaries and his commentaries on the letters of the Apostle Paul, particularly the book of Galatians.
