Anna Carter Florence Promoted to Associate Professor of Preaching and Worship
Decatur, GA.— Anna Carter Florence has been promoted to associate professor of preaching and worship and awarded tenure at Columbia Theological Seminary. She joined Columbia’s faculty in 1998 as assistant professor of preaching and worship and received her Ph.D. from Princeton Theological Seminary in 2000. An ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), Florence served as associate pastor of youth at Westminster Presbyterian Church, in Minneapolis, MN. She received the Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary and the B.A.. from Yale University. In 2007, she will be the “Preaching the Text” contributor for the journal Lectionary Homiletics, and her new book, Preaching as Testimony, will be released by Westminster John Knox Press. She was editor of Inscribing the Text, a collection of sermons and prayers by Columbia professor emeritus Walter Brueggemann, and her sermons have been published in numerous books and journals, including the Journal for Preachers, Princeton Seminary Bulletin, and Pulpit Digest. Columbia Theological Seminary, located in Decatur, Georgia, was established in 1828 and is one of 10 theological institutions of the Presbyterian Church (USA).
