Iona Community Leader Speaking at Columbia on October 13

2006-09-19

Kathy Galloway, leader of the Iona Community in Scotland, will visit Columbia Theological Seminary on Friday, October 13, 2006. The Center for Lifelong Learning will host a luncheon conversation with Galloway in the Ellis Room of the Richards Center. Galloway, a minister of the Church of Scotland, was elected leader of the Iona Community in 2002. She lives in Glasgow, where she is based at the Community’s mainland office. A member of the Iona Community since 1976, Galloway was co-warden of Iona Abbey from 1983-89, and was the editor of its magazine, Coracle, from 1989-2001. She has edited a number of books of liturgy and theology for the Community. Her visit to the U.S. is an opportunity to renew old Iona Community contacts, meet new friends, and share information about the Community’s current work and concerns. Advanced reservations are required for the event. Luncheon reservations may be made by registering online at www.ctsnet.edu/lifelong/learning/calendar.asp or by contacting the Lifelong Learning registrar at roperp@ctsnet.edu or 404.687.4587. The cost of the luncheon is $9 and is payable by check or cash on the day of the event. For more information about the Iona Community, visit www.iona.org.uk/index.htm. Columbia Theological Seminary, located in Decatur, Georgia, was established in 1828 and is one of 10 theological institutions of the Presbyterian Church (USA). xxx
