St. Luke’s Presbyterian Church Member Receives Doctor of Ministry Award at Columbia Seminary Commencement
Decatur, GA.—Barbara Deemer Douglass, a member of St. Luke’s Presbyterian Church, received the Doctor of Ministry degree and was presented the George and Sally Telford Award on May 14 during commencement exercises of Columbia Theological Seminary. The George and Sally Telford Award is given to an outstanding Doctor of Ministry graduate who shows exceptional ability for congregational leadership with an emphasis on social justice issues and vision for the church. Douglass, of Atlanta, GA, holds the B.A. from Hollins College in Roanoke, VA, and the Master of Arts in Theological Studies from Columbia Seminary. She is the Perinatal Loss Specialist at Northside Hospital in Atlanta. Douglass is one of 92 students who received diplomas from one of Columbia’s five degree programs during commencement exercises. Columbia Theological Seminary, established in 1828, is one of 10 theological institutions of the Presbyterian Church (USA).
