Sara Myers Named Library Director
Decatur, GA.—Sara J. Myers will become director of Columbia Theological Seminary’s John Bulow Campbell Library and professor of theological bibliography, effective January 1, 2007. For the past five years, she has been director of the Burke Library and professor of theological bibliography at Union Theological Seminary of Columbia University. She received the B.A. from the University of Florida, the M.S.L.S. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and the Ph.D. from Emory University. During her 34-year career as a theological librarian, Myers has also served at Iliff School of Theology in Denver, CO, and Pitts Theology Library at Emory University, in Atlanta. She is considered one of the best theological librarians in the U.S. and is known for her strong skills in management, fundraising, and public relations. She is the past president of the American Theological Library Association. Her research interests include women in American society, religious biography and autobiography, and the effect of technology on theological research. Columbia Theological Seminary, located in Decatur, Georgia, was established in 1828 and is one of 10 theological institutions of the Presbyterian Church (USA).
