Walter Brueggemann Honored at Morehouse College
Decatur, GA.— Columbia Theological Seminary professor emeritus Walter Brueggemann was inducted into the Martin Luther King, Jr., Collegium of Scholars of Morehouse College on April 5. The event was part of the college’s annual College of Ministers and Laity Program, and the induction included other ministers, scholars, and laypersons whose work showed a strong identification with the philosophical and ethical tradition of Dr. King. The induction citation lists 20 ethical principals that uphold King’s legacy of non-violence, a prophetic tradition oriented toward social justice. Brueggemann was nominated by previous inductee, Roy Craft, former director of the Metropolitan Council of Churches of Atlanta Columbia Theological Seminary, located in Decatur, Georgia, was established in 1828 and is one of 10 theological institutions of the Presbyterian Church (USA).
