Barbara Brown Taylor Leads “Spiritualities of World Religions,” February 12-15

Decatur, GA— Renowned author and preacher Barbara Brown Taylor, will lead “Spiritualities of World Religions” February 12-15 at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, GA. Participants will be introduced to Hindu, Buddhist, Muslim, and Sikh spiritual practices and experience how metro-Atlanta communities bring those practices to life. Taylor has been an Episcopal priest since 1984. She left full-time parish ministry after 15 years to teach at Piedmont College, Demorest, GA, where she holds the Harry R. Butman Chair in Religion and Philosophy. In recent years, she has lectured on preaching at Yale, Princeton, and Duke Universities, and has preached at churches across the country. She is the author of 11 books, including the award-winning Leaving Church: A Memoir of Faith, as well as When God is Silent, and Home by Another Way. She is a columnist for The Christian Century magazine and a sometime commentator on Georgia Public Broadcasting. This course is part of the Certificate in Spiritual Formation offered through the seminary’s Center for Lifelong Learning. Tuition is $250. Meals and lodging are extra.
