Candler Alumna and Ph.D. Student Receives Award for Music and Worship at Columbia Seminary Commencement


Decatur, GA.— Cameron Brown Richardson Howard (M.T.S. 2003), who will begin her Ph.D. studies this fall in the Hebrew Bible program at Emory University, received the Master of Theology degree and was presented the Emma Gaillard Boyce Memorial Award on May 16 during commencement exercises of Columbia Theological Seminary. The Boyce Memorial Award is a cash award given to a graduating basic degree student who presents the best paper on the creative use of music in worship. The student is nominated by a committee of professors of worship and preaching to the faculty for election. Howard is from Columbus, MS, and holds the B.A. from Davidson College in Davidson, NC. Howard is one of 84 students who received diplomas from one of Columbia’s five programs during commencement exercises. Columbia Theological Seminary, founded in 1828, is one of 10 theological institutions of the Presbyterian Church (USA).
