S3 (Sabbath, Study, Service)
The S3 Program, launched in August 2003, will end in February 2015 when the current cohort of four peer learning groups complete their project evaluations.
The Center for Lifelong Learning at Columbia Theological Seminary is grateful for the support from The Lilly Endowment, Inc. which made this program possible. Two grants from the Endowment enabled us to offer self-selected groups of clergy and other church professionals the opportunity to design and participate in learning projects intended to strengthen their practice of ministry. Sixty-nine peer groups, or 393 participants, have been part of the S3 Program since its inception.
The CLL currently offers Leadership in Ministry, an extended peer learning opportunity, and beginning in 2015-16 will offer a Colloquy for Mid-Career Clergy. Also an extended learning opportunity, the Colloquy will be designed for clergy who have at least 10 years of full-time ministry experience in a congregation or church-related ministry and are currently engaged in ministry. We remain committed to fostering peer learning across all stages of ministry and anticipate adding additional opportunities in the future.
The 2013-14 version of the project brochure may be found at the link, below.
