William Brown, professor of Old Testament, taught a month-long Sunday school class on the “Theologies of Creation in the Bible” for Alpharetta (GA) Presbyterian Church; served as “resource theologian” for a group of pastor-theologians in Portland, OR, discussing “Christ and Creation” during September 24-27; taught a two-month Sunday school class on “Christ and the Cosmos” at North Decatur Presbyterian Church.....
 
Carlos Cardoza-Orlandi, associate professor of World Christianity, was the preacher for the 90th anniversary of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Sonadora, Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. He was the pastor of this congregation during his years as a student at the Evangelical Seminary of Puerto Rico; delivered the convocation lecture titled “Now You See it, Now You Don’t: Images and Sounds of a Religion in Movement” at Lexington Theological Seminary; served as vice-chair of the Hispanic Summer Program meeting at Duke University.....
 
David Bartlett, professor of New Testament, preached the installation service for Randle Mixon as pastor of First Baptist Church, Palo Alto, CA; delivered the address for Gene Bay’s inauguration as president of Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School in Rochester, NY; led a workshop on preaching for the Presbytery of Cincinnati; led the Lester Randall Preaching Fellowship weekend at Yorkminster Baptist Church in Toronto.....

Kathleen O’Connor, William Marcellus McPheeters Professor of Old Testament, gave the Barbara Noojin Walthal Lectures, titled “Igniting Hope, Rekindling Life,” at Independence Presbyterian Church in Birmingham, AL,; presented a class called “The Three Tents of Abraham” at Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church in Atlanta; appeared on the Atlanta Interfaith Broadcasting program “In Focus” on the topic of women and ordination; published an article on Jeremiah in the Finnish Exegetical Society Journal, and a book review for The Christian Century; presented a paper, “If Only Tears Were Possible,” at the Society of Biblical Literature annual meeting in Washington, DC.....
 

Laura Mendenhall, president, preached at Westminster Presbyterian in Minneapolis, MN, for PC(USA) Pastoral Care Network, at Grace Presbytery, at First Presbyterian in Tyler, TX, at Spring Hill Presbyterian in Mobile, AL, for Presbyterian Endowment Education Network, at Brick Presbyterian, New York, NY, and at John Knox Presbyterian in Greenville, SC; led the Association of Theological Schools’ study, “Tethered Together: the Church and the Seminary”; led the Committee on Theological Education, PC(USA).....

 
Mark Douglas, associate professor of Christian ethics, led worship, taught, and preached in chapel and at a number of churches in the area; helped initiate a new presbytery group dealing with environmental matters; co-led (with Martha Moore-Keish) a trip to Louisville, KY, with a group of 10 M.Div. seniors as part of the denomination’s “Company of New Pastors” program; and began “The Scandal of Particularity,” a three-year interfaith group project on Jewish-Christian relations.....
 

Michael Morgan, seminary musician, is newly elected dean of the Atlanta chapter of the American Guild of Organists (AGO), represented the chapter at the national convention in Chicago in July; was elected to a second term on the executive Board of the Presbyterian Association of Musicians (PAM); presented a Psalm Festival for the San Antonio Chapter of AGO, and for the AGO in Bristol, TN, and gave two lectures at King College in Bristol.....

 
Martha Moore-Keish, assistant professor of theology, taught a five-week Wednesday evening seminar on the Holy Spirit at the Lay Academy at First Presbyterian, Atlanta; participated in the U.S. Reformed-Roman Catholic dialogue on the sacraments; taught a weekend seminar on the theology of the Holy Spirit at Montreat in Columbia’s Certificate in Spiritual Formation program; participated in a final drafting meeting of a new ecumenical statement on Mutual Recognition of Baptism through the Faith and Order office of the World Council of Churches in Geneva.....
