Supervised Ministry Degree Requirements
Students in Columbia’s MDiv, MAPT, and MDiv/MAPT dual degree programs are required to enroll in Supervised Ministry internships for which they receive academic credit. From congregation-based internships to a myriad of specialized settings, students work closely with qualified supervisors to hone skills for ministry in a wide variety of contexts.
MDiv students are required to enroll in at least 12 credit hours of Supervised Ministry, and may take up to 18 hours in SM courses as part of their degree program.
Required Courses:
SM510: Congregation-Based Internship
MAPT students are required to enroll in 6 credit hours of Supervised Ministry. For students already working in ministry, a Practicum in their professional capacity may satisfy this course requirement.
Required Courses:
SM505: Most MAPT tracks will require enrollment in MAPT Contextual Education
SM610: Clinical Pastoral Education. Pastoral Care track MAPT students are required to take CPE as their Supervised Ministry course.
MDiv/MAPT dual degree students are required to fulfill degree requirements for both the MDiv and the MAPT. Students work in conjunction with their academic advisers to determine appropriate courses for enrollment.
