09/13/2019 - 11/11/2019
The Center for Lifelong Learning is featuring the textile artistry of Montgomery, AL artist Joanne Staley in the current exhibit, “Biblical Weavings” through November 11, 2019.
On Friday evening, September 13, an artist’s reception will take place from 4:30 – 7:00 pm in the Harrington Center, 2nd floor. Light refreshments will be provided. The artist will share brief remarks at 5:30 pm.
“Putting months of effort and love into each piece only strengthened by faith as I interpreted the stories of God’s love and molded them into a tangible creation,” says Staley. She spun some of the cotton and wool yarns herself, much of it hand-dyed with Alabama plants. The pieces also incorporate Alabama’s red clay, metals and wire. The smallest piece Jesus Sleeps Through the Storm is 16″ x 20″ and the largest David Slays Goliath is 26″ x 30″.
The exhibit is housed on the second floor of the Harrington Center on the Columbia Seminary campus. Visitors are welcome to view the exhibit between 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday.
