Advanced Degree Program
An advanced master's program for deeper theological study
Apply Now!The Master of Theology (ThM) enables students who have already earned an MDiv or its equivalent to advance their knowledge in a particular theological discipline in preparation for an academic vocation or professional ministry. A distinctive element of Columbia’s ThM program is the opportunity to work closely with faculty mentors. Half of the required credits are oriented toward the production of an individual thesis project with a faculty advisor who has expertise in that area of study.
Flexible Format
ThM students can pursue their degree in one of two formats: as a one-year, full-time residential program OR a two-year, part-time online (with one week on campus in mid-August).
“Columbia was not only a place that I got an educational degree…through Columbia, God led me to my calling. Columbia was God's way of showing me who I am and what am I supposed to be doing.”
— Dana AbuGhazaleh, MDiv '23, ThM '24
