Frequently Asked Questions about tech in the JBCL
Do I need an account to search the library catalog?
No
How do I log into my library account?
On the top right corner of the library website, click “Log into your account.”
Current students, faculty, and staff can log in via single sign-on (SSO) using their CTS account credentials by clicking the link where it says “CTS students, faculty, and staff, please click here to log in.”
Community and alumni patrons who do not have active CTS credentials will need to enter a username and password, which are library generated. If you do not know your username and password, contact the library at CTSlibrary@CTSnet.edu or 404.687.4610 for assistance.
Can I renew my books online?
Yes. You will need to be logged into your library account in order to do this (see above).
Once logged in, click “Welcome, <YOUR NAME>” in the top right corner of the page, then click “Your account.” If you want to renew all items currently checked out to your account, scroll to the bottom of the page and click “Renew all.” If you want to renew select items, find the item(s) you want to renew on the list and click the renewal checkbox in the “Renew” column (if available), then scroll to the bottom of the screen and click “Renew selected.” You will see your new due date in the “Due” column.
If an item is listed as not renewable, or if no renewals are left, bring it to the library. Library staff may be able to check it right back out to you!
Can I place a “hold” on an item that’s checked out?
Yes. Patrons may have up to 7 items on hold at a time. To place a hold, log into your library account, locate the item you wish to have held, and click the “place hold” button. Alternatively, you can contact the library at CTSlibrary@CTSnet.edu or 404.687.4610 to communicate your request.
Hold requests are pulled from the shelf within 24 open hours and are held at the circulation desk for pickup at your convenience. If the item has not been picked up after seven open days of being held, it expires and is released back to the shelves for circulation.
How do I access eBooks?
We highly recommend that patrons read eBooks in their browser for the best reading experience. Different publishers and items have different limitations on the downloading and printing of their content, but many will allow you to download individual chapters, which is generally more manageable than downloading a full book.
When you find an eBook in the catalog that you want to read, click the red “Click here to access” link in the record, and it will open the eBook. If you encounter any difficulty accessing an eBook, please contact Emily Peterson, Director of Public Services, for assistance at PetersonE@ctsnet.edu or 404-687-4661.
There is a book/article I want that you don’t have. How do I get it?
Click the “Interlibrary Loan” link on the left side of the library home page. This takes you to a page with the information you need to submit an interlibrary loan request. Interlibrary loan is available only for current students, faculty, and staff.
What do I do if I am having trouble opening an online article?
First, try clearing the cache and cookies in your web browser. If that does not work, contact the Digital Access Librarian, Bob Craigmile. CraigmileB@CTSnet.edu or 404.687.4611.
