B715 New Testament Spirituality & Congregational Ministry

Examines selected themes and practices in New Testament spirituality as these may be discovered through critical exegesis of major texts, with a methodological introduction to the study of spirituality. Major texts include the Gospels and the letters of Paul; themes and practices include the presence of God, prayer, the Lord’s Supper, and the relation of spirituality to social justice. The aim is both to understand New Testament spirituality and to engage it in ways that can be transformative for the spiritual lives and practices of contemporary Christian congregations, and for ministry in those congregations.
