H763 Christians and Christianity in Muslim Sources

H763 Christians and Christianity in Muslim Sources

The course will undertake a survey of Islamic teaching about Christians and key Christian beliefs as contained in Muslim source books. The depictions of Christians and Christian beliefs as contained in the Qur’an, the Muslim Holy Book, will be closely examined. The Hadith, or Islamic Traditions, serve as a secondary source book in Islam and has a number of important references to Christians and Christian beliefs. These will also be explored as well as key important Islamic legal texts. These sources combine to form the bedrock of Muslim views, opinions and perceptions about Christiana and Christianity.
