I520 Contextual Immersions

The purpose of this course is to experience and understand the Church among other faith communities in diverse socio-cultural contexts in different parts of the United States and the world, and consequently to gain clearer insight into the mission of the Church in our own contexts. The course provides opportunities for engagement with different social contexts, intercultural and theological reflection, and a deepening of faith commitments. International contexts have included Brazil, Central Europe, China, Cuba, Ghana, India, Jamaica, South Africa, and South Korea. National contexts have included Appalachia, Atlanta, the Mexico-U.S. border, and indigenous nations in the southwest.
