Too often, the study and practice of Christian spirituality and Christian education are viewed as separate and discrete. This course is predicated on the belief that Christian spirituality and Christian education, while distinctive in their own ways, also complement one another and enhance and support one another especially as they are engaged in congregational ministry. Both Christian spirituality and Christian education are very much engaged in nurturing persons in their faith – their believing, as well as their formation – their growing. Through the lens of the congregation, students in this course will gain a deeper understanding of how the practices of Christian spirituality and Christian education build up both the individual and the whole congregation into the Church as the body of Christ in the world.
